A Review of Mobile Phone Packages

It`s a great time to be a mobile phone customer in the UK because even though over the last decade and a half the mobile phone market has been experiencing constant growth in market saturation and the fingers of the mobile networks have gradually extended to reach 99% of mobile customers around the UK the boom is far from over.

The introduction of new mobile networking technologies like 3G and HSDPA connections and the integration of multimedia functionality into handsets, many of which are also able to connect to Wi-Fi and browse the web at broadband speeds, has all brought new appeal to the market.

Recently it`s been mobile broadband which has boosted the mobile phone market with it`s go-anyway broadband connection that doesn`t require a landline, and now 80% of UK residents are mobile phone users, a figure which is constantly growing.

We are also the second most prolific nation in terms of mobile internet use, behind Japan. All of this is good news for the customer because it means that you can get some great deals out there, and here`s a quick top 5, covering both expensive and value contract deals.

Top 5 Mobile Packages

  1. Mix and Match from Three Mobile - This is simply the most flexible package in the UK, allowing you to mix text and voice minutes with a variety of handsets all through the intuitive and helpful tool on their website. The cheapest £15 a month package has a market leading range of cool handsets too, which is great for tech lovers.

  2. T-Mobile Flext 25 - The pioneering price plan that allowed you to combine free minutes and texts into one simple package has grown and T-mobile is one of the many mobile networks who are currently offering price reductions across a range of their pay monthly packages, including a great deal costing £25 per month over an 18 month contract with 1000 minutes and 2000 texts or any mix of the two included.

  3. Vodafone Talk 25 - Trying to keep up with the neighbours but failing slightly Vodafone are offering 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £25 a month over an 18 month contract. This offer is limited to selected handsets but is still quite impressive, especially if you`re an existing Vodafone customer who is coming to the end of their current price plan and want more minutes or texts for your money.

  4. O2 Online 35 - The best thing about this £35 a month tariff from O2 is not only the 600 minutes and 1000 texts but more significantly the options to have one of several unlimited `bolt ons`, which range from unlimited O2 to O2 calls, unlimited texts, unlimited wi-fi usage and many more.

  5. Virgin Mobile £12 - The ultimate budget tariff costing £12 a month over 18 months with 150 minutes and 150 texts, which is excellent value and the range of handsets available free on this tariff is pretty good to. Not too shabby if you`re looking for cheap mobile phones.
